The project was aimed to reduce the impact of climate change, and CO2 emissions by the adoption of sustainable transport (e -shuttle buses).

Objective

The client wanted to conduct an evidence-based Techno-commercial feasibility study on the electrification of public bus transport in Fiji for greenfield Valelevu Shuttle buses program

Our Approach

e-Shuttle Bus Program Overviews

Reviewed initial planning done by the existing transport authority which includes route selection, electrification targets, operational requirements, location of depots and terminals, operation and business model for e-buses.

Technical Assessment for e-shuttle bus feasibility

Conducted duty cycle data collection for 17 Routes Conducted Energy Consumption modelling using duty cycle data for different scenarios. Prioritized routes for electrification purposes. Considered battery pack based on energy consumption, route duty cycles, e-bus specifications, and market availability

Comparative Analysis of Scenario Development

Developed charging strategy and fleet schedule for prioritized routes based on SOC assessment for mixed ICE and EV fleet scenario vs all EV fleet scenario. Analyzed the Pros and Cons of different Scenarios for Charging Strategy and Fleet Scheduling.

Outcome

It involves developing charging and fleet schedules, Total Cost of Ownership and Investment Sizing for different scenarios.
