The project was aimed to fill existing knowledge gaps from investors and/or manufacturers and provide the essential information to serve international investors seeking to enter the Indian ZE-bus market.

Objective

The client wanted to fill existing knowledge gaps and aid understand the implications in investing in India to enable local as well as international ZE-Bus industry leaders to produce and invest in India for enabling easy ZE-Bus transition.

Our Approach

Literature Review

Conducted a literature review on Ze-bus landscape for detailing out the ZE-Bus Ecosystem, ZE-Bus Policy, Demand, and Supply Landscape and ZE-Bus Business models for identifying potential Indian market capacities over the next few years.

Assessment of Business models

Conducted an assessment of current business model types of the bus operators based on their scrapping, maintenance, ownership, operation and market shares characteristics along with the procurement history of Ze-buses, different pilots in India, and lessons learnt.

Market Readiness Assessment

Conducted a market readiness assessment of 6 select cities in India for electric bus adoption and analysis of possible commercial models applicable for each of these cities for e-bus adoption within national regulatory frameworks and presented insights to guide investors.

Investment Analysis

Based on the assessments, an analysis for identifying the supply range of Indian demands were conducted to present the opportunities for expanding local production/assembling of batteries, optimized utilization strategies for incentives offered by the government within the value chain for the investors.

Development of Detailed Guide for Investors

Created a detailed guide outlining the important factors for investors, e-bus manufacturers, charging service providers, and financiers to consider when entering the Indian market for ZE-Bus
