Key Responsibilities
- Integrate adaptation priorities into national climate frameworks, ensuring alignment with the Paris Agreement and national development goals.
- Conduct Climate Vulnerability and Risk Assessments (CVRAs) across sectors such as agriculture, water, health, biodiversity, and coastal ecosystems
- Apply climate models and risk analytics to inform strategic planning and prioritization of adaptation responses
- Identify and size adaptation measures with clear outcomes, implementation timelines, and cost estimates
- Evaluate techno-commercial feasibility of proposed interventions and map relevant financing sources
- Support the preparation of funding proposals for climate adaptation, including those targeting GCF, GEF, and other international mechanisms
- Facilitate inclusive stakeholder consultations, engaging government agencies, civil society, youth, women, and vulnerable groups.
- Align adaptation strategies with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and national development plans
- Contribute to the design of Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) systems in line with Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF) requirements
- Draft technical content for reports, presentations, and policy briefs tailored to diverse audiences
- Provide policy recommendations that strengthen climate resilience and adaptation integration
- Collaborate with public and private sector stakeholders to support implementation and resource mobilization
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree in climate science, environmental studies, sustainable development, natural resource management, or related discipline
- 5+ years of experience in climate adaptation, resilience planning, or related fields
- Demonstrated involvement in developing or updating NDCs, LT-LEDS, or NAPs, particularly in developing country contexts
- Proficiency in conducting CVRAs and translating findings into actionable strategies
- Experience working with climate models and interpreting risk projections
- Strong grasp of techno-commercial analysis, cost estimation, and financing pathways
- Familiarity with climate finance mechanisms such as GCF, GEF, and bilateral donor programs
- Effective communication, analytical thinking, and facilitation skills.
- Exposure to UNFCCC reporting processes (BUR, TNC, BTR) is an advantage
