The project supports India’s transition to clean road transport by mapping and projecting truck emissions through 2050, focusing on heavy freight vehicles that contribute disproportionately to on-road emissions. The study provides a baseline and future scenarios to guide the adoption of zero-emission technologies (ZET), supporting policymakers in prioritizing actions to reduce GHG and criteria pollutant emissions from the trucking sector.
OBJECTIVE
The study supports India’s clean transport goals by mapping and projecting emissions from heavy-duty trucks through 2050. Focusing on vehicles over 3.5 tons GVW, which contribute significantly to GHG and NOx emissions, it provides baseline and future scenarios to guide the phased adoption of zero-emission technologies (ZET) aligned with India’s 2070 net-zero target.
