Aim of the project was to Draft National Policy Framework on EV as a part of UNESCAP technical cooperation project entitled “Accelerating the Transition to Electric Mobility for Public Transport in Asia and the Pacific” in cooperation with the “GIZ-SMMR Sustainable Mobility in Metropolitan Region in ASEAN”

Objective

The client wanted to develop a National EV Policy framework for EV growth in Cambodia to support Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) as it will provide a strategic roadmap to reduce emissions and enhance energy security in the country

Our Approach

Energy and Transport Landscape assessment

Assessed the existing energy (including RE) and transport landscape to understand the challenges, need and EV growth potential in the country

EV Barrier Analysis across the value chain

Conducted a detailed barrier analysis across the EV value chain (vehicle registration to scrappage) to understand the barriers for its growth and validation through country stakeholder workshop

National Policy framework development

Developed National policy framework with demand-side and supply-side measures relevant to Cambodia and benchmarking with global best practices

Dissemination

Presented the National Policy Framework to MPWT and discussed future course of action for the country for EV growth

  • Comprehensive National Policy framework for EV development in Cambodia including suggested demand-side and supply-side measures
