Since 2005, in India there have been more than 15 projects contracted in water sector out of which approx. 70% of projects are on 24×7 PPP water supplies
With reference to the recent report by World Bank, the challenges faced by the water projects in India are:
- Lack of relevant data and information on existing infrastructure
- Lack of balance optimization of capital investment and resources management
- Long term financial sustainability of the project was not addressed
- Weak communication and poor stakeholder engagement for the project
